Sport Staff One is Australia’s Largest Network of Coaches & Umpires. We believe in developing grassroots and school sport so everyone has the opportunity to play and experience the positive ideals of physical activity. Sport doesn’t just happen; it requires passionate, qualified people ‘on the ground’ to coach, inspire, officiate and keep everyone safe. That’s why we provide sport staff across the country. For every goal scored, run made and try put down; we’re here so you can experience it.

Billy Mitchell

Director
Billy founded Sport Staff One in 2013 after discovering a shortage of qualified coaches & umpires within school sport. His goal is to improve the professionalism of grassroots sport by making it easier for school sport leaders to manage their programs. Billy is a football (Aussie Rules) umpire & coach and has been involved in sports administration for over a decade. His focus is to develop the SSO team to continue providing outstanding service to our clients.

Jaimee Butler

Operations Manager
Jaimee joined Sport Staff One in 2016, bringing a wealth of administration and customer service experience. As a sport enthusiast, Jaimee enjoys managing client requests and coordinating sport staff to ensure everything runs smoothly. Her friendly approach and high-level attention to detail is always well received by clients, sport staff and colleagues. Jaimee now manages our entire operations across Australia, which includes over 3000 umpires/referees and coaches.

Mitch Gray

Medical Services Manager
Mitch joined Sport Staff One in 2018 to manage our Medical Services team. With a passion for sport and over nine years’ experience in medical response, he has the knowledge and expertise to oversee this important service. In particular, Mitch's compassionate approach gives peace of mind that students are receiving the highest level of care. Mitch is also a coordinator for School Sport Victoria so his experience running sports events has been a great asset to the SSO team.

Jake Mason

Jake joined Sport Staff One in 2020. With a strong sports background in football and athletics, both as a player and coach, he brings plenty of practical expertise to the team. Jake also holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia. Working with SSO is an opportunity to combine his two passions – sport and numbers – to deliver exceptional customer service to client schools.

Steve Kenworthy

VIC Schools Liaison Officer
Steve joined Sport Staff One in 2020 to strengthen our relationships with schools and school sport associations across Victoria. Following 21 years as the Executive Officer of EISM, Steve understands the high-pressure role of Heads/Directors of Sport and the importance of providing professional and reliable sport staff. Steve was also involved in the establishment of the former Catholic All Schools (CAS) association as well as the School Sport Associations Victoria (SSAV) group.

Tony Danzi

WA Schools Liaison Officer
Tony started with Sport Staff One as a basketball referee and has since performed several roles including observing sport staff in Perth schools and inducting coaches/officials. Tony formally joined us in 2019 to build relationships with WA schools and develop service delivery. He brings experience through playing, coaching and refereeing at Kalamunda Districts Basketball Association (33 years) and coordinating referees at the Herb Graham Rec Centre in Mirabooka (10 years).

James Ralston

SA Schools Liaison Officer
James joined Sport Staff One in 2017 to manage our client relationships in South Australia. As an Adelaide local, James’ knowledge of schools and sporting organisations is a huge asset to the company. He brings industry experience as a sports coaching business owner, Australian Rules Football umpire and SANFL umpire coach. James has been instrumental in establishing operations and networks across SA, as well as contributing to national service delivery and development.

Craig Churchill

Lead Software Developer
Craig brings to SSO over 10 years' experience in developing sports software solutions for grassroots and professional sporting organisations in Australia and internationally. He is passionate about using technology to solve problems that add value, and improve the experience for all administrators, officials, players and parents involved in sport.
